CPR / First Aid for Childcare Providers
Every two (2) years, child care providers must renew their training by completing 4 hours of pediatric First Aid and 4 hours of pediatric CPR. Courses lasting fewer hours than required are not in compliance with the law.

California State law mandates that the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) approve and regulate first aid and CPR training for child care providers. This course has been approved.
The regulations and conditions of approval are substantial, inflexible. They include:
- Initial and retraining courses must be a minimum length of 4 hours of CPR and 4 hours of first aid. Courses cannot be shortened in any manner.
- Additional topics are mandatory.
- Completion and submission of the Child Care Training Roster within 30 days to EMSA.
